BalPac 1200 PORTABLE VIBRATION ANALYZER
The BalPac 1200 measures vibration amplitude displacement as low as 1.0 micro-inches. The easy-to-read backlit display simultaneously displays both digital and bar graph amplitude readouts in user-selected units (acceleration, velocity or displacement). This unique display combination yields the accuracy of a digital readout and the usability of an analog readout.
With its tunable filter, the BalPac 1200 measures vibration across the full spectrum of frequencies (from 72 to 720,000 CPM) or at a specific, user-specified frequency. The user may select between “narrow”,“wide”or “out” filter bandwidths. In addition, the BalPac 1200 detects and analyzes ultrasonic frequency vibrations to provide an early indication of bearing failure.
The BalPac 1200 can automatically measure and plot a vibration frequency spectrum over an operator-selected range of frequencies. The unit can display this information, store it in memory or download it to a computer for further evaluation.
Time Saver —when using an optional photo-tach while in the vibration analysis mode the BalPac will automatically lock onto (and display) the angle of vibration (in mils) without performing a calibration procedure.
With an optional photo-tach or laser-tach, the BalPac 1200 becomes a portable balancing system. Upon completion of the easy 2-step or 3-step calibration process, the unit can display both amount and angle of force or dynamic unbalance, respectively. The user can select either English or metric units of unbalance, including oz-in, ft-lb, g-mm, g-cm, kg-mm, Newton-meters or mass at a selected correction radius.
Included in the balancing software is a segmenting program, which displays the amount of correction required in two adjacent workpiece segments. This allows the operator to easily balance work-pieces without a continuous correction surface, such as fans. The display indicates the segments to correct and the correction amount on each segment. The software accommodates from 3 to 99 equally spaced segments.
The BalPac 1200 includes a basic software package to download raw data into most versions of Microsoft Excel or other comma-delimited compatible products. Once loaded, the software package allows the operator to independently download the following data into separate files, listed by type (i.e. acceleration, velocity or displacement): left vibration data; right vibration data; frequency scan data (one channel at a time up to 9); single plane unbalance data; two plane unbalance data. The software comes on a CD with a user’s manual.
The user can easily calibrate the BalPac 1200 for almost all types of accelerometers by simply inputting the mV/g rating of the pickup. The BalPac 1200 displays the last four vibration readings (amplitude) or unbalance readings (amount and angle) and stores up to 3000 readings. The unit also displays one plotted frequency spectrum and stores up to 9. The operator can download the stored spectrum data to a PC via an RS-232-compatible serial port.
To save setup time, the unit automatically recalls the last gain and filter settings that were used prior to being turned off. In addition, the unit will also recall the previously used calibration and part setup data.
When using the optional strobe light, the BalPac automatically locks the vibration (light or heavy) spot to the pickup location.
The BalPac 1200 comes complete with a hard carrying case (soft case optional), one battery, a 2-at-once battery charger, a velocity transducer with mounting magnet, a cable and two probes. Please note that the photo-tach, laser-tach or strobe light may be purchased later and merely plugged in.
